Tobacco Dependence

For assistance with quitting smoking or chewing tobacco, there are resources available on-campus and in the community.  Using a form of nicotine replacement therapy (patches, gum, or lozenge) is highly recommended, rather than choosing to quit “cold turkey”.  Contact a Tobacco Treatment Specialist for guidance on creating a quit plan, using nicotine replacement therapy properly, and taking the proper steps to creating a tobacco-free life.

Gritman Medical Center Smoking Cessation Program

Gritman offers free tobacco cessation counseling through certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist, Jim Parsons .  Their counseling services are sponsored by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare through the Millenium Fund, a legal settlement from tobacco companies to help defray the cost of tobacco-related medical treatment for Medicare patients.
