Sisterhood Activities:

Delta Gamma does a variety of sisterhood activities; as a chapter we celebrate the warm weather in the fall with a raft trip and we try to attend as many sporting events as possible.  Throughout the year we go on class retreats, attend firesides, and go to movies.  Delta Gamma also gives the freshmen and senior classes time together with bonding activities.  The chapter also expands its creative side with pottery painting and holiday crafts around Halloween, winter break, and Valentine’s Day.

Academic/Scholarship Activities:

Scholarship is a huge aspect of life at Delta Gamma and is the focus of every member.  The chapter gives its members a great support system by recognizing the women that have gone above and beyond academically.  With honors such as the lamp of knowledge and a scholarship dinner, the women of Delta Gamma are very motivated to strive for high achievement in their studies.  There are even opportunities to “study with a date.”  This past semester, Delta Gamma received 2nd in grades among the sororities, and has done very well in the past years as well.

Philanthropic/Community Service Projects:

Delta Gamma’s foundation is Service for Sight. The purpose of contributing to this foundation is supporting and helping those with visual impairments. The main way that Delta Gamma raises funds for Service for Sight is through our philanthropy, Anchor Splash. During this event, each living group participates in a swimming competition at the University swim center. The members coach each different living group through competitive races as well as fun events like synchronized swimming. Aside from Anchor Splash, Delta Gamma also supports Service for Sight by giving eye tests to students in local elementary schools and holding the event Eye Scream for DG, where members sell ice cream and give free eye examinations.

Social/Campus Activities:

Delta Gamma participates in social events with other sororities, fraternities, and athletic teams.  Such activities include formal date dinners, tie exchanges, etiquette dinners, and dances.  Delta Gamma also engages in the philanthropies hosted by the other chapters on campus.  The women compete and have fun raising awareness for another cause.  The two dances that Delta Gamma hosts are Banta Bash, and our formal—Cream Rose. In addition to our own events and the events of other chapters, Delta Gamma participates in Homecoming and Greek Week, which bring all living groups together.
