What are the parts of the ASUI? ▼
ASUI is made up of an executive and legislative branch not unlike that of the United States government, that fall beneath the leadership of a President, Vice President.

What does the president do? ▼
The president works as a liaison for the students to the governing body of the University, as well as the State Education board. Simply put the president outwardly represents ASUI and therefore the student body.

What does the vice president do?▼
The vice-president is the president of the senate, their main concerns are that all students from each living community, off-campus included, are adequately represented. Furthermore, the vice-president enforces the rules and regulations within ASUI.

What is the executive branch? ▼
The executive branch is composed of several boards that oversee funding, entertainment, safety, diversity, athletics, communication, sustainability, recreation, commons and union, and health and wellness at the University of Idaho.

What is the legislative branch? ▼
The legislative branch is composed of fourteen senators under the senate pro tempore. These senators work to inform and represent the opinions of the various living groups both on and off campus. Further more, taking these opinions, senators write and pass bills allocating funding and resolutions representing the interests of the student body across a plethora of topics.

What does a senator do? ▼
Senators represent living groups both Greek and non-Greek by attending meetings twice monthly. Senators each represent two to three living groups; at each living group meeting they attend they inform their groups of upcoming events, and gather opinions on various topics, legislation and events concerning the student body.

How are off-campus students represented by the senate? ▼
During the senatorial election period each student has the chance to align with a number of senators with whom they share interests. Furthermore, all senate meetings are open to the public. For individuals seeking direct representation, any student group that meets regularly can petition to have a senator attend their meetings for regular updates and information.

ASUI is a governing body made up of students that represent students. For anyone who seeks to make their undergraduate experience at the University of Idaho better, ASUI is important. ASUI is important because they take the collection of suggestions and opinions from the student body and work to collaborate them into events, programs and legislation that improves the undergraduate experience for everyone.

How much power does ASUI have? ▼
ASUI deals with a $1.3 million budget that is then broken down into various boards that work to develop a better undergraduate experience. However, because ASUI is made up of students voted for by students the power for what this budget is used remains largely with the students who choose to participate in delegating it.

How much of my money do they get? ▼
Each student gives about $90 to the ASUI budget.

The money taken from each student’s tuition is consolidated into the ASUI budget which is then budgeted among each board for programming purposes.

The ASUI office is located on the third floor of the commons room 302. The senate meets weekly on Wednesday at 7pm in the whitewater room, these meetings are open to the public.
