Healthy Holiday Challenge

Are the holidays tough on your waistline?

Join our holiday fitness challenge and keep the holiday weight gain and stress at bay this year!  Our goal is to help you stay consistent with your workouts during a very busy and calorie filled time of year.  Challenge is from November 23 - January 3.

    The challenge is free and open to all University faculty and staff.  

  • How do the rules work?

    The Rules

    1.  Choose a division:
    Buddy the Elf (you all work out more than 3 times a week)
    Santa's little helper (I try to workout 0-3 times a week, but this challenge will encourage me to stay active)
    2. Form a team (3-5 people) and designate a team captain. Register your Team (you will need the names and emails of your team members and an awesome
    team name). Submit beginning team photo
    3.  Stay active.  It's that simple.  As long as you are movin' and shakin', it counts.
    4.  Eat healthy and in moderation but enjoy the holiday fare.
    5.  Submit points weekly, beginning on Nov. 23.  Team captains will enter in all points and submit them online. Submit ending team photo.
  • How Does the Point System Work?
    Activity Points per half hour
    High Cardio (Spinning, RIPPED, TRX, Running) 3 points
    Medium Cardio (Zumba, Elliptical, Stationary Bike, Jogging) 2 points
    Strength Training 2 points
    Resistance Training (Chisel & Sculpt, Gravity) 2 points
    Flexibility (Yoga, Tai Chi, Stretching) 1 point
    Outside Work hard (Raking Leaves, Shoveling Snow) 2 points
    Outside Work medium (Walking Dog, Walking) 1 point
  • What Forms Does the Team Captain Fill Out Each Week?

    Team Captains use the forms below to submit points weekly, beginning on Nov. 24. When the form is complete email it it to pegh@uidaho.edu

    Week 1 Form: Nov. 23-29
    Week 2 Form: Nov. 30-Dec. 6
    Week 3 Form: Dec. 7-13
    Week 4 Form: Dec. 14-20
    Week 5 Form: Dec 21-27
    Week 6 Form: Dec 28-Jan 3

  • What about prizes?

    Prizes will be awarded to the top 2 teams in each division.  We will have weekly drawings for teams who enter each week. Prizes include: gift cards, team lunch party, Vandal Gear, SRC and Wellness passes.  Winning team will have their photo taken along with bragging rights.  

    Best prize of all, starting off January in great shape!
