Wildlife Society Minutes October 13, 2005
Ethan Ellsworth Guest
Speaker:
We started off your meeting with Ethan Ellsworth, a graduate student in the Fish and Wildlife Resources here at the UI, give a presentation. He talked about why Wildlife Research is important and talked on his research, Snowshoe Hare Ecology in the Rocky Mountains. Thanks Ethan!
Michael Wolf:
He informed us that next week is Wolf Awareness week, and he is putting together a future panel discussion on wolf recovery.
Treasury Report:
Cody gave a total amount in own account. We also had our cash box stolen along with all the money it, in the break in the CNR last week. This will not effect Wildlife Society’s budget.
Soupfeed:
At our last soupfeed we made approximately $120. This is our main fundraiser and we ask that everyone in WS participates, if you can’t donate your time you could bring food or drinks. Our next soup feed as not been scheduled yet.
WSU Wildlife Society:
WSU WS is having a quest speaker on October 24 at 7 p.m. in Room 105 in Johnson Hall. The speaker is talking about Columbia Basin Pygmy Rabbit, if you are interested in going.
Also we may be having an event with WSU Wildlife society sometimes in the year.
Trap shoot:
The trap shoot was cancelled again, it will be rescheduled sometime in the spring semester.
Paradise Creek Cleanup:
Last weekend we had 6 people show up for the clean-up. We thank all those who came and helped clean up the Wildlife Society’s part of the stream.
Upcoming
Events:
Wolf Center:
We will be going to the Winchester Wolf Education Research Center on October 29. If you are interested and have not sign-up please reply to this e-mail and WS will put you on the list.
Backpacking Trip:
We will be having a backpacking trip in the first weekend in November. We have not decided on a location yet, but that will be discussed and decided for the next meeting.
T-Shirts:
Our new Wildlife Society t-shirts are going to be available next meeting. So even if you didn’t order one, we ordered extras, so come by your Wildlife Society t-shirt. They are $12 and we ask that you pay before you get your t-shirt.
Future
Meetings:
Our next meeting in on October 27 at 6p.m. in room 108. (if you haven’t caught on yet, we have our meetings every other week at the same time and same place).
Some ideas for future meetings: John Muir giving a presentation on his moose grad work, a presentation from the Raptor Club, a movie night, and a potluck in December for the end of the year bash with Wildlife Society.
