Wildlifers!
Meeting Minutes for April 8, 2004
Hey wildlifers!
Meeting Minutes for April 8, 2004
Take a look at what we've got coming up!
Vandal Friday~
Vandal Friday went well, we had quite a few prospective and current
students stop by and chat with us about TWS. We had some students really interested, so
hopefully we'll see some new faces next year. Thank you to all of you who stopped by to talk
to people!
The Nature Conservancy at Garden Creek (03/26-03/28)~
Those who went had a really good
time. They worked on making a retaining wall and cleaning up the orchards, as well as having
some fun going shed hunting and fishing. TNC will be reimbursing us soon for food as well.
Raptor Club Presentation~
The presentation was really good, we had a lot of non-members show up and some club members as
well. Not bad for only $35!
Highway Cleanup~
We are planning to do another highway cleanup day sometime at
the end of April or early May, date TBA.
Soup Feed~
There will be a soup feed on Wednesday, April 14th from 11-1 in the
CNR Lobby. If you can bring some soup or anything else that would be great. For those of
you already signed up to bring soup, remember to plug in your crock pots in the morning when
you drop them off! If you can bring something and didn't sign up, just email Troy and let him know.
Volunteer Projects:
Plantings with Teige from IDFG~
Teige from IDFG is looking for volunteers to help with tree
plantings from now until mid-May. They usually meet on weekends, Saturday mornings at 8:00 am
in Rosauers parking lot. This is a great opportunity to volunteer with IDFG and meet some
people too. If you are interested, email Teige at tulschmid@idfg.state.id.us.
Harlequin Surveys~
On April 29th IDFG will be doing Harlequin surveys. They are still
looking for volunteers too, if you would like to help. The raft is already full, but if you
are up to a good hike up some tributaries, it's beautiful country and great experience.
All transportation is provided, they will be leaving that Thursday, working all day Friday,
and you will be back in town that Friday evening and still have the weekend free!
If you are interested in helping out you can contact Joele with IDFG at (208) 779-5010 or
email Troy otherwise.
SAC Report~
SAC is looking for photos for the SAC photo album and the NR
Week slide show, so if you have any photos, please contact SAC or Matt Van Daele, our SAC Rep.
We are doing a water balloon launching challenge against NRECB on Friday,
April 23rd of NR Week, if you would like to help, contact Matt.
Also, don't forget to buy your tickets for the CNR Awards Banquet on Saturday,
April 24th starting at 5:00 at the University Inn. Tickets are $7 for students and you have
a choice of sirloin or vegetarian. It will be an awesome time, the winning photos from
the CNR Photo Contest will be displayed, awards will be giving out for factulty, etc, Kiss
the Fish will be happening and the finals of the Quiz Bowl, so don't miss out!!!
Natural Resources Week/ Boogie in the Barn~
Our day for activities will be April 19th, Monday, and we will be
helping out with the powerpoint presentation. We will also be doing an activity for Thursday,
Field Day, that we will discuss at our next meeting. Boogie in the Barn will be on Friday,
April 23rd from 8-10 pm in the Ag Pavilion, tickets are $2. Smoking Bill will be playing during
that time, last year there was a great turn out, so it should be a good time, try to attend!
If you have any way of donating some hay bales for places to sit, etc or if you can help with the
setup at 7:00 or take-down afterwards, please email Sam Cisney at cisn2449@uidaho.edu.
We may also be buying some bottles water to sell for concessions as well.
Treasury Report~
We currently have $218. We will be receiving $107 from TNC soon
and $1,000 from ASUI too, so that will leave us at $1,300. We made $152 from the last soup feed,
hopefully we will do even better with the next one!
