Wildlifers!
Hey All~
For those of you who didn't get to come to the meeting last night, be sure to read the minutes and check out what you missed because there was some important stuff. It was a great meeting though and Tom Parce was an excellent speaker. He did a great job of covering numerous aspects of trapping and answered a lot of questions.
Here's the run-down...
*Tom Parce was our guest speaker for the evening
. He presented a lot of great information about different uses for trapping and techniques. He brought in example traps, photos, etc and did a great job of exploring different aspects of trapping. We were all involved in conversation and discussion about trapping as well. It was really interesting and I think we all learned a lot. He called Dr. Reese this morning and told him how much he enjoyed coming and talking with us, so thank you to all of you who came.
OLD NEWS:
*Soup Feed
- The soup feed went well, we made about $115 and we had a lot of crocks and help. We really appreciate you guys' effort.
COMING UP:
*Student Research Presentations
At our next meeting on March 24th we will be watching student TWS members present their undergraduate research projects from last summer. This benefits them by getting practice and should be really interesting, so don't miss it!
*Vandal Friday Table
Friday, March 24th is Vandal Friday. We need people from 8-12 to hang out at the TWS table in the Kibbie Dome and talk to incoming freshman about TWS. This is a big chance for us to recruit new members and expand TWS, so if you don't have class, we would really appreciate your help. If you can help out please email Mackenzie.
*Volunteering at Turnbull Wildlife Refuge
Saturday, March 26th we will be volunteering at Turnbull Wildlife Refuge in Washington. We will be checking duck boxes and counting eggs and walking around and bird watchin afterward for those that want to. We would love to have as many people as possible because this is a fun activity for us and the more people, the quicker it goes. If you are interested in going please email Mackenzie, Corey, or any other officer.
*April 7th Meeting Herp Presentation and Officer Nominations
At the April 7th meeting we will have Karen Goldberg give a presentation on herps and also we will be taking nominations for officers for next year, so if you want to run for an office or want to nominate someone else, mark down that date!
*April 11th-17th Natural Resources Week
Field Day unfortunately has been cancelled, but we still have a lot of activities to get involved with for CNR Week. We will probably have our last soup feed that week and work on some other activities.
*Research Techniques Clinic
Saturday, April 16th will be the Research Techinques Clinic. We have some awesome professionals coming to present sessions on important research techniques so this should be a great event. Being our first time doing this, we have a lot of work to get done and we really need help with committees for Advertising/ PR, lunch hour activities, raffles/ door prizes, set-up and take-down, etc. We could use your help, so please sign up to help with a committee if you can. It isn't a huge time committment and it will all pay off. We also hope that you will all come and really try to spread the word to other people too. Here's the topics and some set presenters:
