

A group of scholastic achievers at the University of Southern California, representing various Greek fraternities and sororities, joined together to create an organization dedicated to the advancement of higher education and academic accomplishment. the Alpha chapter of Gamma Sigma Alpha was founded on November 9, 1989, as a result of this student effort.
Gamma Sigma Alpha is committed to the leadership, academic achievement and excellence of Greek members. On September 22, 1993 the Alpha Theta chapter of Gamma Sigma Alpha National Greek Academic Honor Society was installed at the University of Idaho.
At the University of Idaho, membership is limited to two members of each fraternity and sorority on campus. The Alpha Theta Chapter prides itself on the unity of its members and their social interaction coupled with academic leadership and achievement. All meetings of the chapter are held off campus in social settings. A new member can only join the society when a current member graduates from the University of Idaho and appoints a new member with the approval of the Executive Director.
This is the most exclusive Greek Academic and Leadership Honor Society at the University of Idaho.
