Hi everyone. The following is the meeting minutes for the 4/5/00 chapter of Golden Key:

I. We had a guest speaker, Julie Brodock, from a program called Adventure Club. This is an after-school program for elementary-aged students whose parents work past 3:00 p.m. This gives kids a place to go and have fun, do some homework, and do other activities while parents are still at work. This program is also important because 3:00-6:00 p.m. is the time when kids are most likely to be a victim of a crime or commit a crime because they are often left home alone.

Julie Brodock would like to see members of Golden Key volunteer at Adventure Club, primarily to help kids with homework or other activities. Even if you only have an hour to give here and there, it would be greatly appreciated and would be a very rewarding experience. Adventure Club could also use some help when they travel on field trips such as the one coming up in April (roller skating). During the summer, they would also like some help from any of you that will be around this summer. The 4th-6th graders are planning some community service activities such as spending time at the Humane Society, and could use some additional volunteers.

For more information or to volunteer, call Julie at 882-1120 or e-mail her at brodock@sd281.k12.id.us You can also contact Carissa Decker, Service Chair, at deck1631@uidaho.edu for more information.

II. Another important issue is selling flowers at graduation (May 13th). This is the main way that Golden Key earns money. Anyone who can contribute even a short amount of time, would be greatly appreciated. There will also be an incentive for anyone who is willing to help. We begin setting up for the flower sell at 7:30 a.m. and work until the end of the day. If you are willing to help, you can e-mail me or Matt Cram, president at matthewcram@hotmail.com.

Thanks to everyone who attended the meeting. The next meeting will be announced soon.
