Hi everyone. These are the minutes for the 3/8/00 Golden Key meeting: I. Carissa Decker is the chair of the community service group. Some of the ideas for possible community service activities include "Adventure Club" which is a program to help kids with homework or other activities from about 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays while their parents are still at work. Another idea is "College Bound" which involves introducing young students to higher education. II. Rebecca Taylor from Cooperative Education gave us a very interesting presentation on Americorp National Service Organization. It gave us a brief overview of Americorp and its benefits. While doing rewarding community service, students receive education award money and living expense money as well. Rebecca would be more than happy to talk to anyone who is interested in joining Americorp. She can be reached at the Cooperative Education office. III. Alicia Carlson, social chair, is looking for people to help with Vandal Friday. A group will help clean up on March 31st from 3:30 to 5:00. There will be a social gathering afterwards with lots of food and fun. Help is also needed in giving campus tours.
