Campus Recreation Highlights Graduate Brock Morris

Before attending the University of Idaho, I grew up in Mountain Home, Idaho.  I was raised a Boise State Bronco fan until the day I decided to go to the University of Idaho.  My father, a BSU fan, brought me up to Vandal Friday where I could register for my freshmen classes, get acquainted with the campus, and test out Greek Life while staying the night at the Delta Chi house.  When I returned to Moscow for Greek Rush I could tour each house and meet guys from all over.  I ultimately stuck with Delta Chi. Going Greek was the best decision I had ever made.

Entering my experience, I had no idea what was in store.  I came to U of I basically by myself and joined a house that had only a few familiar faces.  By going Greek I could build friendships immediately and participate in activities that I am not certain I would have participated in otherwise.  The friendships I built are life long and even led to me finding the girl I plan to spend the rest of my life with.  I am getting married this summer after graduation and I have the Greek system to thank for that.  All seven of my groomsmen, majority of my fiancée’s bridesmaids, and my beautiful fiancée were all products of the University of Idaho Greek system. Not only did I build incredible friendships and find my future wife, but I believe the Greek system led me to pursue a career in recreation, specifically intramural sports.

Delta Chi was passionate about intramural sports and I could participate in nearly every sport through my time in the house.  I had immediate connections to the program as multiple members of my house worked as officials and program assistants for intramural sports.  I could get involved, start working, and ultimately grow a passion for intramural sports.  I changed my degree from secondary education to exercise science and health and after graduation I decided to get my masters in Recreation and Sport management to try and make a career out of intramural sports.

I have worked from the ground up with the program. I was the intramural sports chair for Delta Chi as well as an official, program assistant, and now the graduate assistant for the intramural sports program. I conducted research on the intramural sports program for my Master’s degree that was accepted for publication. Greek life, intramural sports, and the University of Idaho have been a huge part of my life and I cannot express how grateful I am for my experiences here in Moscow.
