  1. ANOVA for Researchers : Introduction to balanced and unbalanced ANOVA including nesting, factorial treatments, contrasts, and multiple comparisons. Graphical methods for assessing underlying assumptions are outlined.
  2. Transforming Data : Overview of when and how to transform data prior to analysis. The power family of transformations is introduced as a general method for transforming data. A SAS program is given to find the maximum likelihood estimate of the power of the transformation.
  3. Statistical Power and Sample Size : Using modern statistical software one can easily calculate power for many standard statistical designs. Given power, one can determine the sample size necessary to detect target differences.
  4. Diagnostic Plots in Regression : Survey of many of the interesting plots that one might do when performing a multiple regression analysis. Plots can be used to assess underlying assumptions, look for missing variables, and explore the partial contribution of a variable.
  5. Interactive Data Analysis with SAS Proc INSIGHT: SAS Proc INSIGHT is an environment for conducting a variety of interactive and exploratory data analyses. In this workshop, we concentrate on graphical displays for understanding data, with occasional reference to performing data analyses.
