I would like to wish everyone a safe and enjoyable July. Staff Affairs regular July meeting will be cancelled. Meetings will resume on August 13, 2014 from 9am-11am in the Brink Staff Lounge and continue every second Wednesday of each proceeding month.
Staff Affairs Annual Retreat: Staff Affairs held an annual retreat on June 6, 2014. It was a tremendous success, from which we gained a deeper understanding of the role we play as leaders and set goals to move forward.
Results of the Staff Affairs Annual Retreat are goals for the 14-15 term:
1. Development of a 5-year Strategic Plan for Staff Affairs;
2. Focus on revising our current staff appreciation through recognition strategies and events; and,
3. Advocacy & Innovation opportunities to support staff
We will finalize our goals at the August meeting. Each meeting thereafter will be prioritized in relation to moving toward our goals.
I look forward to sharing more details about our goals and statewide tour in the upcoming months.
Sincerely, Ali Bretthauer, Chair, Staff Affairs
Dan Noble! University of Idaho Staff of the Month
Dan Noble is the Senior Financial and Employment Technician from Human Resources. He has been recognized for his outstanding work, going above and beyond in helping others and making the University of Idaho a great place to work and learn.
About the program...
The Kudo staff recognition program is another way to say thank you to our colleagues statewide who go above and beyond their duties to make the University of Idaho a great place to work.
In addition to each Kudo recipient receiving a card and online tribute, Staff Affairs randomly draws from the pool of Kudo-ed staff to determine the University of Idaho Staff of the Month. The Staff of the Month is announced on-air through Inland Northwest Broadcasting radio stations in addition to a certificate and sponsored gift.

Staff Affairs Annual Retreat
Gary Thompson, Leadership Coordinator, from the McCall Outdoor Science School presented a two-part Leadership Training session for Staff Affairs on June 6.
Ice-breakers left the group a little more relaxed; after all, passing a rubber chicken can only leave one with a smile!
Eating together gave us further time to process the items we were tasked to learn and helped to bring about a product goal setting time in the Action Planning portion of the retreat.
**Thank you to both the Budget Office and Department of Finance and Administration for their sponsorship of the meals provided!
Registration Now Open. The condensed summer session begins on May 21 and concludes on July 17. Visit the PDL website and view: Supervisory Excellence Program for registration and workshop information.
For locations outside of Moscow, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for registration and webinar access information.

Socially Geared Staff Outing
Imagine a bike that seats 14 of your closest friends or family that enables all of you to peddle your way down the streets of downtown Coeur d’Alene… The staff and faculty at U-Idaho Coeur d’Alene no longer have to imagine it – we lived it! The 14 of us spent two hours peddling around downtown Coeur d’Alene, occasionally stopping in somewhere for refreshments and singing the fight song along the way. A great time was had by all!
