Staff Affairs Member Spotlight—David Pittsley

David PittsleyDavid is on his fifth year employed at the University of Idaho. He has been with the Parking and Transportation Department for the last three and half years as a Customer Service Representative. He is passionate about his job and recently has improved the Department Outreach Program where he visits with various departments around campus to share information about PTS and get an insight of what customers need for better access.
David enjoys his time at his cabin in Montana where he is away from “reality.” He enjoys the outdoors by putting together a yearly rafting weekend with his friends down the Salmon River, golfing with his partner of 14 years, hiking around Montana and the Palouse Region, riding his bike on the various trails in Idaho and Montana. He has completed his fifth Bloomsday Race in 2013, which is held in Spokane, WA in May!

The Boise Center enjoyed a wonderful evening at the Idaho Botanical Gardens on June 14th. The evening started with a tour by Botanical Garden staff of the garden followed by a potluck picnic.

Great Job Boise Center for Earning May in Motion Platinum Level!!

The University of Idaho Boise again participated in May in Motion which is an annual event organized by Ada County Highway District Commuteride and Valley Regional Transit. The month long promotion is designed to reward Treasure Valley employers for educating their employees about transportation-related issues, and encourage their participation in transportation alternatives. The University of Idaho Boise participated and moved from being a Gold Level Award winner to a Platinum Level Award winner this year—the highest level achievable. The Center had a 48% participation rate from employees and took 639 alternative trips (anything other than single occupancy car) during the month of May. The awards package includes:
• Recognition in one half-page ads in the Idaho Statesman
• Recognition in one full-page advertisement in the Idaho Business Review
• Recognition in one full-page insert in the Boise Chamber of Commerce newsletter
• Recognition in one full-page ad Boise Weekly
• Web-banner recognition on & the
• Recognition on bus exteriors advertisements
• Recognition at the Alternative Transportation Champion awards luncheon

2013 University of Idaho Boise Commencement

The Boise Commencement was held Wednesday May 1st. Graduates from Boise and Twin Falls received 164 degrees: 61 master’s degrees, 35 law degrees, 15 doctoral degrees, 18 specialist degrees and 35 baccalaureate degrees.

Coeur d'Alene’s Hayden Meadows Elementary School 4th graders visited University of Idaho Coeur d'Alene Community Water Resource Center for a field trip focused on water quality activities led by City of Coeur d'Alene Waste Water Department, Coeur d'Alene Tribe Lake Management Department, Idaho Department of Environmental Quality, and University of Idaho Extension—water quality educators.

The University of Idaho was a volunteer sponsor for this year’s Ironman Coeur d'Alene Competition on June 23. University staff, students and alumni taking part in the race were offered a free limited edition U-Idaho Ironman triathlete jersey, we had a booth in the athlete’s pavilion, and a group of University of Idaho volunteers were stationed at a crosswalk in downtown Coeur d'Alene to help direct traffic.

University of Idaho Summer Concert Series at Riverstone

Join us for a free concert series at Riverstone Park in Coeur d'Alene sponsored by the University of Idaho! Each Thursday from July 11th to August 29, 2012 the Coeur d'Alene Arts and Culture Alliance brings free entertainment from the area's top musicians! Concerts are from 6:30-8:00 pm at Riverstone Park. Check out their website at The series opens on July 11 with The Rub, featuring former UI employee Michael Koep on the Drums. Join us across the pond at 5:30 for Thirsty Thursday at Bardenay prior to the concert.

East Idaho Golf Scramble, June 22

The East Idaho Golf Scramble held at Pinecrest Golf Course had a strong turnout of local Vandals. The weather wasn’t the best but the enthusiasm made up for it. Plans are to hold it again next year.
