Silver Valley Upward Bound kicks off summer programs
It’s upward and onward for 12 Silver Valley region students this summer as they prepare for higher education with classes at the University of Idaho and experiences at several universities and museums in Washington, DC. The Summer Institute is designed to introduce learners to research methods, critical thinking, analysis and reflection through project-based learning, college preparatory instruction, character development, service learning and leadership opportunities.

Environment in Our Community Day Camp
During this four day camp, students, along with university faculty and teen leaders, will explore the natural wonders of the local Watershed. This invitation only program is designed for students entering grades 5-7. The program will include activities such as investigations in community health factors related to the environment, water quality monitoring and testing, classification and remediation of local fauna and fish, and other community resource dependent activities. The Harbor Center site provides ready access to the community watershed, community recreational resources like the Centennial Trail, as well as laboratory facilities for authentic STEM activities.
