Aphid of the week - Bean Aphid

James Johnson, Larry Sandvol, & Monica Wiebe
September 1, 1999 - Vol. 14 No. 8

Cereal Aphids

What goes up must come down, as we have seen with the stock market, our weather, and cereal aphids.  We have gone from 13,000 two weeks ago to 715 this past week, of which only 214 were cereal aphids.  It is our feeling that unless we see an up surge in cereal aphid numbers, there is no reason to delay planting.

Bean Aphids

Even though we saw an increase of bean aphids this past week, it is probably insignificant compared to what we will catch in the next few weeks to come, as they emigrate from sugarbeet fields.

Aphid Flyer

We are in the process of changing distribution of the aphid flyer, Southern Idaho Newsletter and other entomological news.  A Southern Idaho Entomology homepage with links to each of these, should be available in the near future.  This change will result in only hard copies of the Aphid Flyer being sent out or viewing it on our website.  We will keep you posted as to our progress.
