Message from the Dean
Welcome to the 2012 College of Science Student Research Exposition. This is the 8th year for this event, and we're excited about what it has become. As always, this year’s Expo will feature an impressive lineup of student participants, both undergraduate and graduate, who will be displaying posters to highlight their research projects.
We're proud of what our students accomplish, and proud that our college presents such tremendous opportunities for students to engage in research. We believe that getting students involved in groundbreaking research projects with world-class research faculty is one of the things that sets the University of Idaho apart, and the Student Research Exposition is a great place to see examples of the exciting work that goes on across our college. I hope you'll take some time to look at the exhibits and talk to the participating students. You'll see how they've gained from experiencing the excitement of scientific investigation.
Part of the learning that students gain from the expo comes from putting their work before judges. At the conclusion of the program we'll present awards to several of the projects deemed to be exceptionally meritorious by our judging panel. Of course, congratulations are due to all of our participating undergraduate and graduate students. Congratulations and thanks are also due to the faculty who support, encourage, and mentor our students through these projects. Thank you to the Sigma Xi scientific research society for participating in this year's event. And finally, thanks to the judges who volunteer their time to give constructive feedback. We hope that all will enjoy the experience of this year's exposition.
