Why did you choose the University of Idaho?
I chose University of Idaho because I wanted to work with Dennis Geist, and was curious about Vandal Marching Band. Geist ended up leaving when I arrived.

Favorites

Class?
Field Geology II

Professor?
Tom Williams

Lab?
Paleontology with Bridget Wade. That class was wicked cool!

Research Project?
Toronto frost quakes for remote sensing/intermediate GIS

Studying

What is your favorite study tip?
Listen to jazz or classical music. It really doesn’t help at all, I just think those music genres are great. I recommend staring at your notes/book until you fall asleep, then wake up and torture yourself some more with studying.

What is your go-to study snack?
I don’t have a study snack, I eat my notes if I’m hungry.

Campus Life

Favorite UI Memory?
Playing sardines (backwards hide and seek), with friends in the arboretum at night.

Dorm or Greek?
Neither, off campus is where it's at.

Intramural Sports or Student Clubs?
Climbing is…yeah. It’s great

Tell us

What are your plans for after graduation?
Go where the wind takes me, and find a job. You know the usual.

What should incoming first-year students know?
This campus is amazing, and there is a lot of clubs/stuff out there. You just have to ask people and be persistent.

What advice to you have for other students in your major?
In Geosciences you should prepare for structural geology, and realize you will not be able to have a life when enrolled in the class. Also, Cheers! Never take life too seriously, remember who you are, and look to your feet, then to the sky, and then forward. Don’t look back.
