Safety Orientation

No matter where employees work or what they do, it is essential they are able to recognize hazards and have a clear understanding of the safe work practices and procedures they need to follow to avoid injury or illness.

This webpage includes information about and links to the university's official safety orientation video, Safety 24:7. This video should be used as the foundation for an overall, unit specific safety orientation program. Supervisors should provide all employees the opportunity to view Safety 24:7 to ensure they are provided with basic information about safety policies, practices and procedures they are expected to follow while working for the university.

A checklist that can be used to assist with and document the safety orientation process may be downloaded from this webpage. This checklist may be modified as required to make it more relevant to unit-specific needs.

Note: Once an employee has viewed Safety 24:7 and been provided the appropriate unit and job-specific information necessary to complete their safety orientation, it should be entered into the EHS TrainTrack system. For assistance or further information, please contact your unit Gatekeeper or Environmental Health & Safety.
