The skyline is changing at the heart of University of Idaho’s Moscow campus with the addition of the Integrated Research and Innovation Center, or IRIC. The building will serve as a hub of interdisciplinary research in science, engineering and other disciplines, with the goal of addressing critical problems facing the world today.
The campus community celebrated a groundbreaking for IRIC on Aug. 22, 2014. A year later, the structure is beginning to take shape. IRIC is on track to open in fall 2016.
Students, staff, faculty and community members are encouraged to follow IRIC’s progress. Please keep in mind that IRIC is currently an active building site; obey posted warnings and exercise caution when nearby.
Check this page for weekly updates about construction and the process of identifying which research groups will first reside in IRIC. For more details about the building, including a gallery of renderings and floorplans, visit the Facilities Services IRIC page.
Aug. 31, 2015 – The IRIC made the front page of the Lewiston Tribune today. Read the paper’s article on the building at bit.ly/1KXsAX4 (subscription required), or read a shortened version of the story at the Idaho Statesman: bit.ly/1N4QgyL
Aug. 17, 2015 – The beams are up, crews are pouring the floors and IRIC is beginning to look like a building. The construction team aims to have the structure weather-tight this fall and will soon start putting up exterior walls.
