UT – Tyler

The mathematics department at the University of Idaho is home to a system often imitated across the country that helps students pass introductory level math classes in numbers well above the national average. The Polya Math Center utilizes both person-to-person interactions and an advanced computer learning system to make a difference in the math abilities of students.

One of the key aspects of the system is an excellent collection of instructional videos. Monte Boisen, chair of the department of mathematics, recently licensed the Polya Video Collection to the University of Texas at Tyler.

UT – Tyler expects to use the collection to help math teachers in rural East Texas upgrade their skill and understanding of mathematic principles and techniques.
