About OED
As Idaho’s land grant university, education, research, and service/outreach have been at the core of the University of Idaho since it’s inception. But as the economy has diversified and presented new challenges, innovative and leading-edge strategies to engage the University in economic development in the state need to be pursued. The Office of Economic Development was established to help meet this need.
Mission: The University contributes to economic development efforts by mobilizing resources to advance innovation, help employers grow and prosper, revitalize communities, and create an educated workforce. Our goal is to help create a vibrant and sustainable economy for Idahoans that improves the quality of life for our citizens.
A statewide economic summit was held in late February 2012 to gain insight into potential needs and projects for institutions of higher education across the state to participate in. While these are being addressed, the University is always looking for new ideas and partnerships to enhance economic development so please feel free to Contact Us.
