Students who have decided not to attend for the semester must cancel their classes before the first day of the semester to avoid having the classes be recorded on their transcript and being financially responsible. Students may either contact the Office of the Registrar or
request cancellation online. Withdrawal from a semester does not affect a student's ability to enroll in a subsequent semester (admission to the university is not cancelled).
After the semester begins, the following deadlines apply for withdrawal from all classes for the semester:
| Through 10th day of semester |
Submit request to Office of the Registrar for complete withdrawal. No classes or grades transcripted. |
| 11th day — end of 2nd week following midterms |
Submit request to Office of the Registrar for complete withdrawal. Dean's signature also required for law students. Classes and WU grades (withdrawn from university) transcripted. WU grades do not factor into GPA or affect academic standing, nor do they count toward 21-credit withdraw limit. |
| After end of 2nd week following midterm |
Student must petition Academic Petitions Committee for late withdrawal through their academic deans office. Classes and WU grades (withdrawn from university) transcripted. WU grades do not factor into GPA or affect academic standing, nor do they count toward 21-credit withdraw limit. |
Medical Withdrawal
The medical director of Student Health Services or the director of the Counseling and Testing Center is authorized to grant or require a students withdrawal from the university for medical reasons. Students desiring to withdraw from the university for medical reasons will consult the Dean of Students Office who will evaluate the request. If granted, the Dean of Students Office will notify the Office of the Registrar in writing to process the medical withdrawal. Medical withdrawal is granted for an entire semester, not selective classes.
Active Military Duty
Students who are called to active military duty should refer to the
Guidelines for Military Leave and contact the
Office of Veteran's Affairs for assistance with the withdrawal process and their transition from the university and their return upon completion of military leave.
