Registration Overrides

Department and college users may now grant overrides using the Banner Admin page SFASRPO.

Primary instructors can enter registration overrides for sections they teach to assist students encountering registration errors. Secondary instructors are not able to enter registration overrides and should contact their academic department for assistance.

Entering Registration Overrides
(Primary Instructors)

  1. Go to Registration Overrides
  2. Select semester for override from drop-down
  3. Enter Student ID or search by name and click Submit button
(Search results require the student to be enrolled in at least one class you are teaching)
  4. Click on the student record to proceed to the Registration Overrides page
  5. Select appropriate Override option from drop-down list:
    • Override ALL Restrictions — removes all restrictions (except Time Conflicts). Note: this bypasses the waitlist to allow registration. Overriding only a prerequisite, major restriction, or permission required restriction will not allow registration in at-capacity classes.
    • Class Standing Restriction — removes the restriction to certain student classifications (freshmen, sophomore, junior, senior).
    • Cohort Restriction — removes the restriction limiting enrollment to students in the Honors program.
    • Co-requisite Override — removes required co-requisites.
    • Department Enrollment Restriction — removes department-specific restrictions.
    • Exceed Enrollment Limit — removes the maximum enrollment limit set on the class. Note: be sure there is space in the room to accommodate additional students.
    • Level Restriction — removes the restriction to specific student levels (Undergraduate, Graduate, or Law).
    • Major Restriction — removes the restriction to specific majors.
    • Permission Required for Enrl — confirms instructor or department approval; only cleared students can register for these controlled classes.
    • Prerequisite Override — removes required course prerequisites.
    • Time Conflict Override — removes time conflicts. Must be granted separately from any other override.
    • Allow Enrlmnt from Wait List — by-passes waitlist status, allowing registration.
  6. Select appropriate class section requiring override for registration and click Submit button
  7. Confirm override information and click Submit button
  8. Notify the student. They are now eligible to register for the class through Student Registration
