Biosafety
The main principles of biosafety are containment and risk assessment. Containment includes the use of good microbiological practices, appropriate safety equipment, and facility safeguards that protect laboratory personnel, the general public, and the environment from exposure to potentially infectious materials that are handled in the laboratory. Risk assessment is the process that that makes it possible to select the appropriate microbiological processes, safety equipment, and facility safeguards that that can prevent injuries and the development of laboratory-associated infections.
