Sample Senior Timeline
Your senior year of high school is an exciting and hectic time. To help you stay on track, here's a timeline of when to complete key actions to prepare for college.
September
- Talk to your high school guidance counselor to discuss your college goals and academic record.
- Sign up for the SAT or ACT.
- Make plans to visit the colleges or universities that interest you.
- Familiarize yourself with the university admissions process.
- Get in touch with your admissions counselor for help with all pieces of the process.
October
- Complete and submit your online application.
- Explore and begin applying for scholarship programs outside the university.
- Attend Envision Idaho.
November
- Make sure to have your SAT or ACT test scores sent to the universities of your choice.
- Research your options for paying for school.
December
- Begin looking for an admissions letter if you have already submitted your application.
- Once you've received your acceptance letter, begin regularly checking the Admitted Students website for next steps you can take.
January
- Begin working on your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You'll want to submit your FAFSA as soon as possible to be eligible for all awards possible.
February
- If you haven't already done so, be sure to submit your university application and FAFSA by Feb. 15 for maximum financial aid consideration.
March
- Keep track of all your application materials.
April
- Set up your Vandal accounts if you have been admitted.
- Watch your VandalMail account for important university communication.
- Attend Vandal Friday, if you have been admitted, to register for classes and more.
May
- Confirm that you are attending in the fall by contacting your Academic Advisor and registering for classes (if you haven’t already).
- Notify other schools of your decision.
- Review and accept your financial aid awards in VandalWeb.
