It will be your generation’s job to solve the world’s complex problems. It’s our job to make sure you can.

Your mind is capable of much more than you realize. That’s why at the University of Idaho, you are expected to think bigger, take risks, link classroom learning to real-world issues, and ponder creative solutions to the globe’s toughest problems. It’s a rigorous academic approach that challenges even the brightest students. In fact, we are home to 81 National Merit Scholars—more scholars than at all other Idaho institutions combined.

Discover quality where it counts most.

University of Idaho offers more than 130 majors in a wide range of fields. But it’s not just about variety at Idaho. It’s about quality. Our academic programs—many of which are top-ranked for excellence—are led by internationally recognized experts and designed with input from practicing professionals to ensure you gain current knowledge, skills and experiences relevant in today’s changing marketplace.

Make a difference while you learn.

Our 98 service-learning courses allow you to apply classroom learning while you engage in meaningful service that makes a real difference in communities throughout Idaho, the nation and the world.

Through partnership with more than 160 community agencies, our students volunteer 150,000 hours annually to service-learning projects that have helped boost economies in rural towns, enhance tools for K-12 education locally and abroad, solve engineering problems for organizations, design a community center, promote charity events, improve sustainable practices on campus and in communities, remove 98 tons of trash from Idaho’s wilderness, and more.

Succeed with support.

We want you to succeed at Idaho, but we don’t expect you to do it alone. From tutoring and advising to counseling and peer mentoring, you have personalized academic, emotional and social support to help you reach your fullest potential—in and outside the classroom.
