Feeding Young Children in Group Settings

Feeding Young Children in Group Settings is an educational project developed by the University of Idaho based on research conducted by Family and Consumer Sciences Professors Laurel Branen and Janice Fletcher.

Feeding Young Children in Group Settings provides a science-based approach to meeting the nutritional needs of young children within the logistical and social settings of child care. The project integrates concepts from nutrition, child development, and food safety and presents information about best practices in feeding young children.

Impact

The project developed a variety of educational materials, learning activities and resources for child care providers, Head Start teachers, food service workers, and other professionals who prepare and provide food to young children in group settings. Companion products have been developed to address prevention of childhood obesity while addressing parent-child care provider communication.
