The University of Idaho is committed to the recruitment and retention of a talented and diverse faculty, staff and student body. Ensuring that each person feels welcome, wanted, respected and partnered with for success can be addressed through an intentional approach to Goal 4 of Leading Idaho: Strategic Plan 2011-2015 “…opportunities for cultural competency training”. This event was facilitated by Carmen Suarez, Director of Human Rights, Access, and Inclusion; Interim Special Assistant to the President for Diversity, Equity and Community; and Interim Associate Vice Provost for Student Affairs. The presentation focused on competencies essential for effective leadership in our increasingly diverse community, enhancing our ability to support and retain students, staff, and faculty.
