We have implemented many changes in our enrollment and financial aid efforts. I’m optimistic that these changes will help us reach our goal of 16,000 students by 2020 while also increasing access for quality Idaho students with financial need.
We have the potential for another excellent student enrollment this coming year. If this occurs, it will also help our financial situation. However, we’ve taken a conservative approach to budgeting and assumed zero growth. This keeps us from committing resources until we’re certain of what we have.
Our reorganization of financial aid – especially in the area of out-of-state tuition waivers – has helped us generate more scholarship opportunities for in-state students with financial need. This should produce more revenues from out-of-state tuition while increasing opportunities for Idaho students. With this new system, nearly $6 million in institutional assistance will be made available to new first-time and transfer students from Idaho.
