Visitor FAQ's

Do I need a permit to park on campus?
Yes. Visitor permits are required to park in any campus parking lot Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. (9 p.m. or 24 hours in some areas). Some spaces in Gold lots require a permit until 9 p.m. All Green lots require a permit 7 days a week, 24 hours.

There are three pay-to-park lots on campus, which allow you to pay for parking hourly using coins, or credit/debit card. To learn more about this parking option, click here.
How do I get a Visitor permit?
Visitor permits are available for purchase for $2/day at the Parking Office only. The Parking Office is open Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the academic year, and 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during summer and winter break. The Parking Office is located in the Intermodal Transit Center on the corner of Sweet Avenue and Railroad Street (1006 Railroad Street). View a campus map by clicking here.

If you are a guest of a department or college on campus, ask the individual coordinating your visit about Visitor permit options and if they have a Visitor permit available for you upon your arrival.
Where can I park with a Visitor permit?
Visitor permits validate parking in any regular space in all Gold, Red, Blue, Silver, Purple, or Green lots on campus. They are also valid in any space marked as Visitor parking, or Reserved - Visitor permit required spaces. These special spaces are located in various locations throughout campus, view the campus map for more details on locations of visitor parking spaces.

Visitor permits are not valid in meters, reserved spaces (marked for anything other than Visitor permits), disability spaces (unless a state disability permit is also displayed), fire lanes, no parking areas, or on the campus walkway system.
I got a parking citation, what are my options?
All parking citations must be paid or appealed within 15 days from the citation issuance date.
How do I pay a parking citation?

Citations can be paid online on the parking web page if it is within 15 days of the issue date.

If it has been more than 15 days since the citation was issued, you may pay the citation by mailing a check to:

The Parking Office is open Mon-Fri, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the academic year, and 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during summer and winter break.

How do I appeal a citation?

Within 15 days of the citation issuance date, go to www.uidaho.edu/parking/appealcitation and follow the steps. All parking citation appeals are reviewed by the Parking Committee, which is made up of volunteer faculty, staff and students. The Committee meets once a month, so it can take several weeks before you will hear of the decision. You will be notified of the Committee decision by US Mail or e-mail depending on the contact information you provide in the appeal.

I have a Disability permit, do I need to get a permit to park on campus?
Yes. If you are visiting campus and you have a permanent or temporary Disability permit from any state, you must purchase a Visitor permit to be displayed in conjunction with your Disability permit. Doing so allows you to park in any Disability space on campus, any colored lot, in designated spaces on the campus walkway system, or in any space designated for visitor parking.
