Community Partner Profile
Gritman Medical Center
The services provided by the Operation Education Scholarship Fund have been greatly enhanced by the participation of individuals and businesses in the community. Their generosity and caring has brought significant added value to the program.

Gritman Medical Center in Moscow has partnered with Operation Education to supply physical therapy services and wound care to address the needs of scholarship program participants.

How important has this been?

Not all participants require physical therapy or wound care. Last year, physical therapy was necessary for only one wounded veteran. But it would have required the participant to travel to the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Spokane two or three times a week to receive therapy. The three- to four-hour round trip proved to be too disruptive to the student’s class and study schedule.

Gritman Medical Center stepped forward to donate the necessary physical therapy services to allow the veteran to make substantial improvement.

Jeff Martin, president and CEO of Gritman Medical Center, says the hospital plays an integral role in the community. As a not-for-profit entity, Gritman seeks to provide crucial patient services.

“We want to provide exceptional health care and make it convenient, so that patients don’t have to drive out of town for help,” Martin says. “We are honored to participate in the Operation Education Scholarship Program and consider it a privilege to provide health care needs for the veterans that have served our country.”
