Zimfest, the Zimbabwean Music Festival is the largest annual 4-day celebration of Zimbabwean music and culture in North America. Zimfest 2012 will be held on the University of Idaho campus Aug. 2 - 5 sponsored in part by the International Programs Office, the dance program and the Lionel Hampton School of Music. Zimfest offers more than 100 workshops including many for children and teens. Professional development credit is available for music educators. Free daily concerts featuring 16 groups, an African Marketplace, an authentic Zimbabwean meal and ticketed evening concerts round out the available activities. Zimfest features musicians and teachers from Zimbabwe, Zimbabwean musicians living in the United States and Canada and a dynamic group of North American performers and musicians.
