VandalStore to Roll Out Price Comparison Tool for Students

Tuesday, August 13 2013

MOSCOW, Idaho – The University of Idaho VandalStore is working to put money back into students’ pockets with the release of their new online tool: Price Comparison.

The price comparison tool will allow students to check textbook pricing offered by major online booksellers, as well as prices being offered by the VandalStore, all on one screen.

“The misconception on campuses is that students pay much more at their campus booksellers and that is not the case. Many times we are actually less expensive than sellers such as Amazon,” said John Bales, director of the VandalStore. “We’ve adopted online comparison as a way of delivering students the best textbook prices, as well as great customer service that you get by shopping with us.”

The VandalStore offers multiple choices to students, which include new, used, rentals and digital versions often referred to as e-books.

“Our first priority is student success,” said Bales. “We work hard to get timely book adoption information from faculty and purchase books at the lowest cost possible to be able to pass those savings along to our students. The sooner we can get book information from our faculty, the better the prices we can offer our students.”

According to Bales, renting textbooks can be the most cost effective and students don’t have to worry about what the buyback price will be at the end of the term. They simply have to return it before the deadline. They know up front what their investment will be in that book.

“Additionally, students may pre-order their textbooks in August when the selection of used textbooks is the best,” said Bales.

All the books that have been adopted by faculty will be ready for pre-order. Books will be ready for pick-up starting August 18. Classes start Monday, August 26.

The VandalStore offers free in-store pick-up, the correct book guarantee and full refunds on any book returned within 10 days of the first day of classes.
