Take a break, get some fresh air, bring a lunch, and come enjoy live music with co-workers, students and other community members. Free popcorn will be available. Come listen to the music of Cooper Trail.

Thursday, Aug. 1

IBEST Lunch – Steve Krone and Celeste Brown

Join the Institute for Bioinformatics and Evolutionary Studies for the IBEST lunch. IBEST is an interdisciplinary research group at the University of Idaho focused on understanding the patterns and processes of evolution that occur over comparatively short periods of time. The hallmarks of IBEST research are the coupling of empirical and theoretical research, and a strong orientation toward rigorous testing of hypotheses. We place a high value on interdisciplinary collaborations that blend the expertise of biologists, biochemists, ecologists, evolutionary biologists, mathematicians, statisticians and computer scientists to examine the underpinnings of evolutionary biology.

Screen on the Green: A Bug’s Life

Screen on the Green provides free movie showings on the big screen outside on the Tower Lawn Thursday nights at dusk. Bring your family and friends, warm clothes, and a blanket, and come enjoy a movie and freshly popped popcorn provided by ASUI. A Bug’s Life follows the story of a misfit ant, looking for “warriors” to save his colony from greedy grasshoppers, recruits a group of bugs that turn out to be an inept circus troupe. This movie stars the voices of Dave Foley, Kevin Spacey and Julie Louis-Dreyfus.
