Turning of the Wheel: A Digital Collection of Humanities Events released by U-Idaho Library
Tuesday, January 29
The University of Idaho Library announces the release of Digital Initiatives' latest collection, The Turning of the Wheel Collection: A Digital Collection of Humanities Events.
The Turning of the Wheel Collection is a compilation of videos, photographs and transcripts documenting over 30 events that took place as part of the Turning of the Wheel Humanities Colloquium Series, a "Humanities Exploration of the University of Idaho" during the 2011-2012 Academic Year. The series was directed by Rodney Frey, director of general education and professor of ethnography, U-Idaho department of sociology and anthropology.
For each event, a University of Idaho community member offered his or her own response to the thematic question: "What is significance for you of the interplay between the particular/diverse/ unique and the shared/universal/ubiquitous?" The collection features lectures by Rodney Frey, Kathy Aiken, Nancy Chaney and other prominent University of Idaho and Moscow community members, as well as plays, musical performances, panel discussions and essay readings.
All events were video recorded by the U-Idaho Video Production Center. The site’s homepage features a PBS documentary on the series developed and produced by Denise Bennett, senior instructor of journalism and mass media.
