Tammany Crop Tour Focuses on Cereals, Oilseeds, Stripe Rust and Budgets

LEWISTON – The annual Tammany Crop Tour sponsored by University of Idaho Extension is planned June 27 and will feature cereal and oilseed variety trials, Northwest fungicide and stripe rust management strategies and crop enterprise budgets.

The tour will begin at 8 a.m. with participants meeting at the Henricksen farm at 2810 Powers Ave. in the Lewiston Orchards.

Specific stops on the tour will include:

• Hill-plot production and spring wheat plots with plant breeder Wayne McProud of Moscow-based Plant Breeders 1.
• University of Idaho canola and mustard variety trials results and update with plant breeder Jack Brown and research support scientist Jim Davis of Moscow.
• Cereal variety trail performance with Doug Finkelnberg, Extension research support scientist of Moscow.
• Fungicides and stripe rust management and Northwest trials to find effective and economic stripe rust management strategies with Doug Finkelnberg.
• New farm enterprise budgets by Kate Painter, agricultural economics analyst of Moscow.
