Renfrew Colloquium Seeks Speakers For 2012-2013

Tuesday, May 29 2012

The Malcolm M. Renfrew Interdisciplinary Colloquium (MRIC) is accepting nominations for speakers for its 2012-2013 series. Dan Bukvich (Music) and Kenton Bird (Journalism and Mass Media) will coordinate the popular Tuesday mid-day series.

The colloquium is a series of lectures by University of Idaho faculty and staff who describe their approach to teaching and/or research. The lectures explore the subjects and methodologies that define the disciplines within which the speakers work.

The MRIC is named for Professor Emeritus Malcolm M. Renfrew, who has combined an interest in science with enduring interests in the arts and humanities. An important and influential chemist and teacher, Renfrew is also an accomplished painter. The colloquium was named in October 2010 in honor of Renfrew’s 100th birthday.
Please send suggestions of faculty or staff members who might be good speakers to Bird, kbird@uidaho.edu, by June 15. Self-nominations are also invited. The first colloquium will be Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 12:30 p.m.
