Monday, March 25 2013

Registration is now open for “Protecting Yourself and Your Research,” a presentation focusing on export control issues for university faculty.

William Mackie, a trial attorney who works in the counterespionage section of the National Security Division, will give an overview of how academic research and development projects can exist successfully within the bounds of U.S. export control laws, as well as present a case study of a University of Tennessee professor who is serving a prison sentence for export control violations. The presentation also will highlight the keys to creating an effective compliance program and a mutually beneficial partnership with U.S. government research programs.

The presentation will be 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, in the Student Union Building Silver-Gold/Galena Room. To register, visit the Professional Development and Learning portal at Early registration is encouraged.
