Nationally Recognized Biodesel Educator, Joe Thompson, Retiring
Monday, April 29
Joe Thompson from the biodiesel education program will be retiring in June. Thompson is a nationally recognized leader in biodiesel education (working under Jon Van Gerpen, one of the most respected biodiesel researchers in the nation). U-Idaho has a farm-scale biodiesel production facility, and Thompson has made biodiesel from many unusual feedstocks, from coffee grounds to the fat of black soldier flies.
Thompson has worked tirelessly for the university for over 30 years, promoting the university and supporting biodiesel production through publishing, media interviews and educational outreach, including tours of the facility to anyone that asks. Thompson is a valuable resource of information at the university and will be greatly missed.
