Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival: Jimmy Heath, Terrell Stafford and More

The Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival Wednesday evening concert lineup, presented by Avista Corp., features National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master Jimmy Heath, who is acclaimed for his distinctive sound on tenor, and is a fluid soprano and flute player and a very talented arranger and composer.

Wednesday night’s performances will also include the Lionel Hampton All-Star Rhythm Section, compromised of Josh Nelson on piano, Graham Dechter on guitar, Sean Conley on bass, Kevin Kanner on drums, and Charenee Wade, a rising star on the jazz scene, on lead vocals.

Wednesday’s concert events wrap up with special guest Terrell Stafford on trumpet performing with University of Idaho’s Lionel Hampton School of Music Jazz Band One under the direction of Vern Sielert, assistant professor of trumpet and jazz studies. The concert will be located at the University of Idaho Student Union Building Ballroom, 709 Deakin Ave. in Moscow, at 8 p.m.
