Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival: 3-Concert Evening

Thursday, February 24 2011

The Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival evening concerts, presented by Pepsi, will feature a new “festival seating” format in which three separate groups will be performing at staggered times at three different locations on campus. The new Thursday format will allow people to move from venue to venue to be able to catch multiple sets or stay and watch two sets of their favorite performer if desired.

Three events include:
• Atsuko Hashimoto, Japanese Hammond organ virtuoso, returns with Jeff Hamilton on drums and Graham Dechter on guitar in the Student Union Building Ballroom, 709 Deakin Ave. in Moscow, at 7:30 p.m.

• Nikki Yanofsky, teenage Canadian jazz vocalist, will perform with Jazz Festival All-Stars Josh Nelson piano, Sean Conley bass, and Kevin Kanner drums at the Haddock Performance Hall in the Lionel Hampton School of Music Building, 1010 Blake Ave. in Moscow, at 8 p.m.

• Renee Rosnes and Bill Charlap will perform as a piano duo in the University of Idaho Administration Building Auditorium, 851 Campus Dr. in Moscow, at 8:30 p.m.

Tickets are available for all nights with prices varying from $25 -$39 per night. Tickets may be purchased at the ASUI-Kibbie Activity Center Ticket Office by calling (208) 885-7212 or toll free 1-88-88-UIDAHO, or online at www.UItickets.com.
