Confidential Document Destruction Program Change
Monday, June 11 2012
Records Management is pleased to announce several changes to our confidential destruction (shredding) service. First, we will be changing service providers for confidential document destruction. Services and consoles supplied by our current vendor, Shred-It, will be supplied by Iron Mountain beginning at the end of June 2012. All existing Shred-It consoles will be removed by Shred-It, and they will be replaced by new consoles supplied by Iron Mountain. As always Records Management will continue to pay for the shredding services, but Iron Mountain will be the new vendor for these services. This should be a relatively seamless transition.
Shred-It will be emptying all of the Moscow campus consoles on Tuesday, June 26 (with the possibility that some maybe completed on Wednesday because of the large volume). As the consoles are emptied they will be turned upside down. No additional material to shred can be put in the consoles at this time. Starting late Tuesday afternoon Shred-It will begin removing the empty consoles. Again, because of the volume, this will take two or three days it is estimated. The statewide campus locations will be changed out as soon as arrangements can be made for each site.
Iron Mountain will be delivering their consoles to the Moscow campus shortly after the removal of the Shred-It consoles beginning June 27. We ask for your cooperation during this change over time, and appreciate your patience.
Second, you will no longer need to schedule your consoles to be picked up. All Iron Mountain shredding consoles will be picked up every four weeks for shredding and the shredded paper will be recycled. For large purges and media other than paper you will need to contact
records@uidaho.edu to arrange for pickup of these items. The scheduled pickup dates will still be posted on the Records Management web page.
Please feel free to email
