Andrew Brewick to Head UI Global Student Success Program

July 05, 2017

The University of Idaho is pleased to announce that Advising Services Director Andrew Brewick has moved to a new role as executive director of the UI Global Student Success Program.

The Global Student Success Program (GSSP) will help to increase UI’s international student community and help those students gain the necessary skills needed to excel in both undergraduate and graduate degree programs. GSSP students will study in an on-campus pathway program located on the UI Moscow campus.

The GSSP is run in partnership with Navitas. UI partnered with the global company earlier this year to advance the university’s internationalization goals and expand learning opportunities for international and domestic students. The first cohort to enter the Global Student Success Program is scheduled to arrive this fall.

“We are pleased to closely partner with Navitas to support international students coming to the University of Idaho,” said Dean Kahler, UI vice provost for Strategic Enrollment Management. “Having Andrew transition to Navitas provides great continuity between the university and the GSSP that will only lead to stronger implementation and student support.  We look forward to continuing to work with Andrew and the rest of the Navitas team.”

Brewick has held positions in advising and retention at UI since 2005 and has led several successful retention programs during that time. He assumed the executive director role on Monday, July 3.

Prior to his work at UI, Brewick taught English in the Japan Exchange and Teaching program in Yuzawa City, Akita, Japan, and worked as a learning specialist for the University of Minnesota. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and philosophy and a Master of Arts degree in secondary education, curriculum and instruction from the University of South Dakota.

“We are thrilled with Andrew’s appointment to the role of executive director of the Global Student Success Program,” said Bev Hudson, president of Navitas North America.  “His history with UI and deep experience in student services position Andrew for great success leading this new program.”
