McNair Achievement Program
The mission of the UI McNair Achievement Program is to expand the participation of low-income, first generation, and underrepresented students in doctoral study.
McNair offers an integrated program of academic and scholarly activities, mentoring, a paid summer research internship, and academic and personal support to ensure UI McNair Scholars achieve the well-rounded background necessary for admission into graduate school and the attainment of a doctoral degree.
The UI McNair Achievement Program is funded by the U.S. Department of Education at $231,000 annually through the UI College of Graduate Studies.
