  • Encourage international graduate student recruitment 
  • Enhanced recruitment using minority athletes – connecting to their home schools (high schools) and home towns 
  • Center for race, ethnicity and gender studies 
  • Better connection with K-12 counselors and teachers 
  • Recruiters of color - hire minority recruiters for UI 
  • Multicultural curriculum

  • Pursue veterans, displaced breadwinners “capture the moment” by serving the nation, state, citizens of 
  • Student exchanges with international universities 
  • Disease prevention – should focus on diverse groups – specifically Native American and Hispanic, given their presence in Idaho. Again, could be integrated in curriculum, result in scholarship/grants, create outreach to these ethnic groups – this focus should create/further develop campus culture that would attract students/staff/faculty from these diverse groups 
  • Experiential education requirements 
  • Create culture of support for athletics – successful teams engage students and community – great “free” exposure to UI (e.g. full page pic in Sports Illustrated) 
  • Create & implement strategic initiatives that will facilitate hiring faculty & staff of diverse backgrounds. Create & implement strategic initiatives to recruit & retain minority & 1st generation students 
  • Create courses that are co-taught by our university and others in a more diverse location 
  • Increase emphasis on recruiting Hispanic populations 
  • Tribal recruitment engagement 
  • Use extension faculty to reach Hispanics, Native Americans to recruit students 
  • Use diversity as a positive employability factor in hiring 
  • Flexible degree programs 
  • Take more advantage of Native American potential contributions & values – students & cultures. These programs should be incorporated into every research proposal & initiative
