Ruth Funabiki joined the faculty in 1983 as Associate Law Librarian for Technical Services. Her previous professional experience includes academic, music, and law firm libraries.
Ms. Funabiki majored in music education before earning graduate degrees in library science and communication. She is an active member of the American Association of Law Libraries and the Idaho Library Association. She serves on the Idaho Commission For Libraries Special Projects Librarian Action Team and the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) Advisory Council..
Ms. Funabiki's research and professional interests include social networking related to libraries, increasing public library access to legal materials, mass media law, and the effect of advertising on decision-making.
