The Evolution of Resources for Divorcing Families

The Evolution of Resources for Divorcing Families

Instructor: Mark Mays

Attorneys, counselors and advocates who work with children and parents may not be aware of the increasing number of resources available to guide families through the process of divorce and separation. Research has provided guidance on many topics, and some of this challenges the traditional thoughts about how children react to differing circumstances and what might be in their best interests. Other techniques and technologies can help with communication and aid in maintaining a more conflict-free post-divorce relationship among family members and help keep geographically remote parents truly knowledgeable and involved with their childrens' lives and circumstances while maintaining the boundaries of privacy for new families. This workrshop surveys and discusses the evolving tools and resources for the practitioner involved with divorcing families.

This workshop will cover the following topics:

  • Learn what the current research suggests about parenting arrangements and the effects of divorce.
  • Learn tips and techniques to aid parents with post-divorce conflict.

This workshop is designed for legal and mental health professionals with some experience and knowledge of common dilemmas following divorce.
