James D. Ruchti

James D. Ruchti received his legal education at the University of Idaho (J.D., 2001), where he was part of a two-person team that won the Conrad B. Duberstein National Moot Court Competition in New York City. He received his undergraduate degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York (BS, 1993).  Upon graduation from West Point, he was commissioned as a Military Intelligence Officer in the United States Army (1993-1998).  He was honorably discharged in 1998 as a Captain, having served in Germany, Arizona, Georgia, Jordan and Kuwait.

Mr. Ruchti is a community leader.  He was elected to the Idaho Legislature in 2006 and re-elected in 2008 where he served as the Assistant Minority Leader. In 2010 Mr. Ruchti retired from the Legislature to focus on his law practice, Ruchti & Beck Law Offices, with fellow College of Law alum, Joel Beck.  He also serves on the Board of Trustees of the Idaho Trial Lawyers Association.  James Ruchti and his wife, Wendy, have two sons, Spencer and Drew. They enjoy spending time together outdoors.
