Security Incident and Digital Forensics
Description
ITS can assist in the recovery of lost or stolen laptops, cell phones or other electronic devices by working with the campus police department and digital forensic tools to aid in the recovery of the device. ITS requires a case be opened, and a case number assigned, by the Moscow Police Department before involvement.
 Eligibility
Security incident and digital forensic services are available to students, faculty, staff and departments at the University of Idaho.
Cost There is no fee associated with this service.

DMCA and Copyright Complaints

Description
ITS is the primary contact for any and all Digital Millennium Copyright Act violations received by the University of Idaho on either the wired or wireless networks. Users found to be in violation of the DMCA will have all internet access shut off and will need to speak with ITS to regain connectivity.

DMCA and copyright complaint response services are provided for students, faculty, staff and departments at the University of Idaho

Network Firewall

Network Firewall
Description
The Network Firewall service provides protection for devices on the University of Idaho network. There are a set of standard Network Firewall policies that may be applied to a University subnet on the Moscow Campus, including 3 policies defined for end-user stations: Enhanced Security User Network (ESUN), Regular Security User Network (RSUN), and Limited Security User Network (SUN).

There are two policies defined for servers Printer and Server Basic. In addition, there is a border firewall where qualified systems administrators can managed Internet Server firewall policies for servers that are not in a standard server policy subnet or a *SUN policy subnet.
 Eligibility
The network firewall service is provided to all students, faculty, staff, departments, visitors, contractors, affiliates and vendors at the University of Idaho who connect to the network on campus.
Cost There is no fee for standard network firewall services.
Custom firewall policy requests require the exception process.

If you receive SPAM or phishing messages when using your University of Idaho email account, please copy the full headers of the message and send them to abuse@uidaho.edu.

Virtual Private Network

Virtual Private Network
Description
The Virtual Private Network (VPN) service provides a method for gaining remote access to the University of Idaho network resources over the Internet when traveling or at home. There is a VandalVPN service and a SysAdVPN service. The SysAdVPN service is required when the remote user must have a fixed IP address assignment.
 Eligibility
VPN is available to students, faculty, staff, departments, retirees, contractors and vendors at the University of Idaho.
Cost There is no fee for this service.
Self Service Information The Virtual Private Network client software can be downloaded from the UI support download page and you can follow ITS tutorials on instructions for installing, configuring and using the VPN client.

Description
ITS coordinates the acquisition of PKI certificates for identities under the uidaho.edu domain. These are generally used as SSL certificates for web sites, which are identified by the “s” in the https:// section of the web address.
 Eligibility
ITS provides uidaho.edu SSL certificates to departments at the University of Idaho.
Cost Cost is a direct pass-through to what root certificate authorities
charge. In the 2013 academic year, GlobalSign and GoDaddy are used.
